The Textile Clothing and Footwear Council of Fiji (TCF Council) is preparing to send representatives to the Australia International Sourcing Fair (AISF) taking place this month. This exhibition, eagerly anticipated, marks Fiji’s return to international trade events following the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the council, Fiji serves as a vital sourcing hub for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. The success of the ‘Make it in Fiji’ initiative, launched over a decade ago with support from AusAID, has revitalized the industry that once faced significant challenges. The council emphasizes that Fiji has consistently delivered high-quality products, successfully catering to markets in America, Australia, New Zealand, and even Europe.

Fiji differentiates itself from larger competitors such as China, Bangladesh, India, and Vietnam through its focus on flexibility, superior quality, and the ability to produce smaller runs. The industry is praised for its quality products and a proactive approach to social and corporate responsibilities. Additionally, the capability of local manufacturers to accommodate shorter, custom runs, paired with their English-speaking operations, ensures exceptional customer service—characterized by the renowned “Fiji smile.”

Confirmed participants from Fiji at the AISF include Danam (Fiji) Pte Ltd, Nagsun Apparel Fiji Ltd, and United Apparel (Fiji) Pte Ltd. This important event is scheduled to take place at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in South Bank, Victoria, from November 19 to 21.

This renewed engagement in international sourcing represents an optimistic step for Fiji’s textile and apparel industry, indicating resilience and a commitment to growth in the global market. The event offers an opportunity for Fijian businesses to showcase their strengths and foster valuable partnerships, potentially leading to increased trade and investments.
