Fiji’s Evacuation Centers: Over 300 Seeking Shelter Amid Crisis

The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office has reported that as of this morning, there are currently 345 Fijians residing in evacuation centers. These centers, activated in response to recent emergencies, are providing refuge for a total of 79 households.

The active evacuation centers and their respective number of evacuees are as follows:

1. Andrews Primary, Nadi – 180 evacuees
2. Saioni Church, Nadi – 35 evacuees
3. Korovuto Secondary School, Nadi – 14 evacuees
4. Vou Dance Group Office, Nadi – 7 evacuees
5. Tavua District Primary School, Tavua – 9 evacuees
6. Nadele Community Hall, Nadroga – 69 evacuees
7. Nasolo Community Hall, Ba – 22 evacuees
8. Lovu Sangam School, Lautoka – 9 evacuees

The Western Divisional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) are actively coordinating efforts to provide necessary resources for evacuees, adhering to established policies and regulations. They continue to monitor conditions closely and are prepared to facilitate assistance requests as needed.

This situation illustrates the resilience and solidarity within the Fijian community. With ongoing support from emergency management officials, evacuees are receiving essential support during a challenging time.
