Robert Camilleri, the managing director for Spartan Fiji/New Zealand/Australia, expressed great enthusiasm about the impressive outcomes of the 2024 Fiji Spartan APAC Championship, which took place at the Aviva Racecourse in Nadi. The event commenced early with a 50km Ultra Start, followed by the exciting 21km Beast APAC Championships.

Camilleri highlighted the remarkable performances observed during the Championship, with many competitors achieving fast times. He noted that the race courses were filled with participants and continued to see activity throughout the morning, with the final waves of racers expected to finish around 11am, leading into an exciting afternoon of competition.

Looking ahead, the following day promised to be packed as well, featuring popular shorter distance races of 10km and 5km, expected to draw even larger crowds. Camilleri anticipated that many newcomers would be participating in the 5km event, allowing them to experience the spirit of the Spartan Race for the first time.

The event also saw strong international participation, with athletes from 24 countries joining in the competition. Local interest was equally robust, with many residents eager to get involved. The inclusion of children’s activities throughout the day underscored the event’s family-friendly focus, indicating a growing interest in such events that organizers are eager to build upon in the future.

Camilleri expressed gratitude to all partners and sponsors involved in making the 2024 Fiji Spartan Race a success, emphasizing that their support was crucial for hosting this engaging event.

This event not only highlights the popularity of Spartan Races but also showcases Fiji’s ability to host international sporting events, reinforcing its position as an attractive destination for athletes and families alike. As Spartan continues to expand its reach, there is a hopeful outlook for even greater participation and community involvement in the years to come.
