The FIJI Water Flying Fijians delivered an impressive second-half performance to secure a 33-19 victory over Spain in their latest match of the Autumn Nations Series. After a competitive first half, during which Spain held a slight lead of 10-7, the Fijian side showcased their resilience and skill.

Spain initially took the lead with a penalty try, coupled with a penalty kick from flyhalf Gonzalo Lopez. Winger Ponipate Loganimasi responded for Fiji by scoring a try, with Caleb Muntz successfully converting to keep the game tight. In the second half, Lopez added three more penalty kicks, bringing Spain’s score to 19-7 and appearing to put them in control.

However, the tide turned for Fiji in the 54th minute when Sireli Maqala crossed the line to score, igniting a strong comeback. Hooker Sam Matavesi quickly followed with a try in the 59th minute. Just four minutes later, Captain Waisea Nayacalevu contributed the third try for Fiji. Debutant Setareki Turagacoke capped the scoring for the visitors in the 69th minute, with Muntz converting three tries throughout the match.

Looking ahead, the Mick Byrne-coached team is set to face Ireland in their final match of the season at Aviva Stadium next Sunday at 3:10 AM.
