The Government will disburse payments for the qualification upgrades of 395 teachers in two phases: 50% will be paid before Christmas, with the remaining balance following in January, as announced by Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro.
During the Fiji Teachers Registration Authority (FTRA) and Ministry of Education Annual Congress 2024 at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa in Denarau, Mr. Radrodro reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to supporting educators in the nation. With the theme “Transforming Education: Closing Gaps, Connecting Minds, Shaping Tomorrow,” he underscored the ministry’s commitment to ensuring teachers receive their entitled benefits this year.
He further outlined that other financial incentives, including location allowances and step-ups, would accompany these payments. In a notable recognition, 103 assistant principals will receive a pay step-up to differentiate their roles from those of heads of departments.
Mr. Radrodro emphasized that these incentives are essential for acknowledging the hard work of teachers in Fiji and for retaining their valuable skills to enhance the education sector’s growth. He praised school leaders for their relentless dedication, stating, “Your impact reverberates far beyond the walls of our schools.”
Encouraging collaboration, he called for meaningful discussions among educators to share best practices and improve educational experiences. He expressed hope that the congress would unify educators and empower them to equip students for future challenges. “By sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, and learning from each other, we can create a strong community that drives change and progress in education,” he said.
This announcement reflects a positive step towards enhancing the educational framework in Fiji and supporting those who play a vital role in shaping future generations. With such initiatives, the future looks promising, fostering a supportive environment for both educators and students alike.
