The Ministry of Education in Fiji has announced the reintroduction of interviews for Year 13 students who wish to enroll in teacher training institutions. This initiative is in collaboration with several educational bodies, including Teacher Training Institutions, the Fiji Teacher’s Registration Authority, and the Higher Education Commission Fiji.
Education Minister Aseri Radrodro emphasized that this program presents an exciting pathway for aspiring educators to contribute significantly to Fiji’s educational landscape. With an increasing need for qualified teachers, Radrodro highlighted the importance of a rigorous and tailored recruitment process that will attract dedicated candidates.
This initiative is part of the 2024-2033 Denarau Declaration, aimed at strengthening partnerships among educational institutions and the Ministry of Education. It ensures that graduates possess the essential skills and knowledge to excel as teachers.
Radrodro pointed out the current priority teaching areas, which include disciplines such as Primary Education, Special and Inclusive Education, and various science and arts subjects. Additionally, he shared that online applications for Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) close on January 31, 2025, detailing several scholarship programs available for different levels of education.
The Ministry will conduct two rounds of interviews for eligible students, with notification about the specific dates and venues communicated through emails and phone calls.
