Fiji’s Education Ministry Settles Bus Fare Discrepancies: What You Need to Know

The Ministry of Education has completed the payment for the difference in bus fares to Vodafone Fiji Limited. Following the new bus fares that took effect on September 1, 2024, the Ministry has assured parents, guardians, and students that payments were made only after confirming the reconciliation of taps for both blue and yellow bus cards.

Verified reconciliation records were submitted to the Ministry in the first week of October, and after a thorough verification process in accordance with MoE guidelines, the payment for the fare differences was finalized by October 15.

As of Tuesday, September 10, 2024, the Transport Assistance Program has supported 103,321 students. Among these, 62,988 students benefit from e-transport via the Blue subsidized cards, while 40,333 students receive assistance through RSL transport.

In line with the agreement between the Ministry of Education and all relevant stakeholders, the fare difference payments to Vodafone Fiji will be issued at the end of each month.
