Fiji remains a vibrant democratic nation capable of overcoming any domestic challenges, according to Education Minister Aseri Radrodro. Speaking in Parliament on Monday during the discussion of the 2024-2025 National Budget, Mr. Radrodro attributed this resilience to a Coalition Government dedicated to fostering a united Fiji through dialogue and peaceful development.
Mr. Radrodro praised the Speaker’s efforts in guiding Fiji through legislative challenges, noting the significant changes in the political landscape following a period of confusion and chaos in recent months. He emphasized that strong leadership has ensured stability within the economic environment, sending a reassuring message to investors and the business community.
Endorsing the budget, Mr. Radrodro described it as more than a financial document; he called it a visionary blueprint reflecting the Government’s commitment to a brighter future for Fiji through transformative educational investments. The budget allocates a total of $784 million to the education sector, with $627 million designated to the Ministry of Education, which includes $90.7 million for the Higher Education Commission.
Mr. Radrodro stated that the budget embodies the government’s dedication to providing quality and inclusive education for every child, regardless of their background, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 4.
