Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lautoka Seventh Day Adventist High School today, marking a pivotal advancement for Fiji’s educational landscape.

Set to welcome its first students in 2026, this new high school aims to enhance educational access for children in the Lautoka region. In his speech, Prime Minister Rabuka highlighted the significance of this project, stating, “Today, we’re here to celebrate progress. On behalf of the Government, I convey my gratitude to the SDA Church for its contribution towards the education sector in Fiji.”

He noted the vital role that religious organizations play in the country’s education system, with these institutions managing approximately 95% of schools throughout Fiji. Rabuka reiterated the Government’s dedication to fostering collaborations with these organizations and other key stakeholders to advance education in the nation.

He encouraged all involved parties to come together to ensure the successful realization of this initiative. “Let us collectively come together to make this project a reality,” he expressed.

The SDA Church currently manages three high schools and 12 primary schools across Fiji, underscoring its ongoing commitment to contributing to the educational framework in the country.

This initiative not only reflects a commitment to expanding educational opportunities but also highlights the importance of collaboration between the government and religious communities. The establishment of this high school represents hope for better educational resources and improved future prospects for children in the Lautoka area.
