The FIJI Water Flying Fijians showcased an impressive second-half performance to secure a 33-19 victory over Spain in their third match of the Autumn Nations Series.
The match began with a strong showing from Spain, which led 10-7 at halftime. The hosts scored through a penalty try, with flyhalf Gonzalo Lopez successfully adding a penalty kick, while Fiji responded with a try from winger Ponipate Loganimasi, converted by Caleb Muntz.
In the second half, Spain extended their lead to 19-7 with three penalty kicks from Lopez early on. However, Fiji found their rhythm in the 54th minute when Sireli Maqala scored, catalyzing a remarkable comeback.
The tries continued for Fiji, with hooker Sam Matavesi crossing the line in the 59th minute, followed by captain Waisea Nayacalevu just four minutes later. Debutant Setareki Turagacoke finalized the scoring for the visitors with a try at the 69th minute, while Muntz contributed with three successful conversions.
Looking ahead, the team, coached by Mick Byrne, is now preparing for their final test match of the season against Ireland, scheduled for 3:10 AM next Sunday at Aviva Stadium.
