Fiji’s beach soccer team secured a convincing 4-0 victory against Papua New Guinea to clinch third place at the OFC Beach Soccer Men’s Nations Cup in Honiara. France Catarogo starred for Fiji, scoring three goals in the match.
Earlier in the tournament, Papua New Guinea had defeated Fiji 8-2 in their first-ever international beach soccer match, but Fiji was missing key players, including captain Tevita Waranaivalu and Madhwan Gounder, who arrived late.
The scoring began in the 8th minute when Northland Tailevu’s Steven Dean found the back of the net. Just eight minutes later, Catarogo extended Fiji’s lead. He then added two more goals, finding the net again in the 22nd and 34th minutes to solidify Fiji’s dominant performance.
