Fiji’s Diplomatic Thanks Amid Controversy: What Sparked the Media Response?

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed appreciation to the New Zealand Government for its efficient coordination regarding Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s recent visit. This statement comes in response to certain media members who invoked racist stereotypes concerning two New Zealanders in the Prime Minister’s security detail.

Fiji’s High Commission in New Zealand clarified that these individuals were part of a larger team representing a diverse cross-section of New Zealand society. They commended the professionalism, transparency, and meticulousness of the security personnel.

The High Commission also noted that all members of the New Zealand security detail assigned to the Prime Minister were supplied by the New Zealand Government. They confirmed that the visit took place smoothly, despite some adjustments to the agenda.
