The Public Service Commission has rescinded the appointment of Pita Wise, the former Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, as Fiji’s Head of Mission to Japan. The PSC made this announcement following Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s disclosure that Wise was selected to act as Fiji’s High Commissioner to Japan. In its statement, the Commission indicated that it felt the need to clarify the situation and made its decision based on the circumstances. Wise had previously resigned after more than 18 months in his role as a senior official in the Prime Minister’s office, stating personal reasons for his departure.
