Fiji’s Diplomatic Shuffle: Former PS Left in the Lurch

The Public Service Commission has rescinded the appointment of Pita Wise, the former Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, as Fiji’s Head of Mission to Japan. The PSC made this announcement following Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s statement regarding Wise’s selection to serve as Fiji’s High Commissioner to Japan. The Commission took the opportunity to clarify this issue and made its decision accordingly. Wise had previously resigned after more than 18 months in his role as a senior official in the Prime Minister’s office, citing personal reasons.
