Fiji’s Diplomatic Gratitude Amid Media Controversy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its appreciation to the New Zealand Government for effectively coordinating arrangements for Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s visit. This follows reports where certain media members employed racist stereotypes regarding photographs of two New Zealand security personnel assigned to the Prime Minister.

Fiji’s High Commission in New Zealand clarified that these two individuals were part of a larger team representing a diverse segment of New Zealand society. The High Commission commended the professionalism, transparency, and meticulousness displayed by the security detail.

It was noted that all members of the security team assigned to the Prime Minister were provided by the New Zealand Government. The visit proceeded smoothly without any incidents, despite some adjustments to the schedule.
