Fiji’s Digital Future: TAF Unveils Game-Changing Strategic Plan 2025-2029

The Telecommunications Authority of Fiji (TAF) has officially launched its inaugural Five-Year Strategic Plan for the period of 2025 to 2029 at Tanoa Plaza in Suva, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to enhancing the telecommunications sector. The event was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, who highlighted the plan’s four essential pillars: Regulatory Effectiveness, Service Delivery, Advocacy, and Financial Sustainability.

The strategic plan emphasizes strategic enablers, which include People and Governance, Processes, and Technology. Its primary objectives are to bridge the digital divide, inspire innovation, and solidify Fiji’s status as the information and communication technology (ICT) hub of the Pacific.

In his speech, Mr. Kamikamica expressed that this strategic plan is a reflection of TAF’s commitment to fostering a robust telecommunications industry. He elaborated on the vision of a digitally connected Fiji, where all citizens have equal access to technology and opportunities. He stated, “The plan’s emphasis on regulatory excellence, enhanced service delivery, advocacy for community needs, and financial sustainability aligns with the government’s vision of a digitally inclusive and empowered Fiji.” He also expressed confidence in TAF’s ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the plan.

TAF chairman, David Eyre, shared enthusiasm about the organization’s journey toward a digitally inclusive future and asserted that the strategic plan would facilitate transformative change in Fiji and the Pacific region. He emphasized the goal of achieving measurable impacts for the people of Fiji with the support of their partners.

Moreover, TAF’s chief executive officer, Prit Chand, conveyed that the plan provides a clear and actionable roadmap for transforming Fiji’s telecommunications sector.
