The Ministry of Agriculture in Fiji is actively promoting an essential training program for dairy farmers in the regions of Nukuloa, Lutu, and Wainibuka. This initiative is in collaboration with the Fiji Cooperative Dairy Company Limited and aims to improve milk production and quality through hands-on demonstrations and updated farming practices. Livestock Agriculture Officer Iliana Tuivuna emphasized the necessity of continuous education for farmers to uphold high production standards.

The training is designed to equip farmers with practical skills that enhance efficiency and encourage sustainable agricultural practices. Farmer Mitieli Tikoduadua from Nukuloa expressed his gratitude for the training, highlighting the introduction of valuable techniques for animal care and milk quality improvement.

Adding to the initiative, the Fiji Development Bank has offered financial support options to assist farmers in sustainably expanding their operations. This collective effort indicates a commitment to fostering a resilient dairy sector that not only aims for industry growth but also contributes to national food security.

This training program builds on previous government efforts to empower agricultural communities, such as the recent handover of new transportation equipment to local dairy farmers. The sustained focus on farmer education and support reflects a hopeful outlook for the future of Fiji’s agricultural landscape, as it lays the foundation for improved productivity and economic stability.
