Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica announced that the government is currently reviewing Fiji’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model assessment. He made this statement while opening the two-day Fiji Tech Summit 2024 at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau.
The review is being conducted in partnership with the Oceania Cyber Security Centre. Mr. Kamikamica emphasized that the assessment will serve as the foundation for the upcoming National Cybersecurity Strategy, which aims to establish clear objectives to ensure national cybersecurity and resilience.
He noted that various trends and protective measures related to cybersecurity will be thoroughly examined during the summit. Mr. Kamikamica praised the event organizers for facilitating important discussions in light of the changing landscape of cyber threats, assuring that the Fiji Government is committed to addressing these issues seriously.
Additionally, he highlighted ongoing initiatives, including the establishment of the Fiji National Computer Emergency Response Team (Fiji CERT), which is expected to be operational soon and will focus on the cybersecurity of the population.
The Fiji Tech Summit, organized by DATEC Fiji, will conclude today.
