The Fiji Corrections Services (FCS) Job Evaluation Exercise (JEE) has successfully identified 81 new positions across administration, technical, and ranking officer roles. This significant initiative received approval from the Cabinet and was ratified by Parliament as part of the national budget for the current financial year.
Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga addressed Parliament, emphasizing that the traditional concepts of promotion and demotion are no longer applicable within this context. He explained that the determination of an officer’s rank now hinges on their assigned post, which is influenced by individual performance and the specific needs of the organization.
The new organizational structure aims to modernize human resource policies and better align the pay structure with the qualifications and responsibilities of each role. Mr. Turaga noted that the previous job evaluation took place approximately 40 years ago, making this update a vital step forward for the FCS.
