Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, the leader of the People’s Alliance, has expressed confidence in the ongoing support from coalition partners, namely the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) and the National Federation Party (NFP). This statement was made following the swearing-in ceremony of three new Ministers and three Assistant Ministers, an event for which he confirmed prior approval from both coalition parties.

Rabuka’s assurances were echoed by Viliame Takayawa, General Secretary of SODELPA, who noted that the coalition remains strong and united, despite choosing not to elaborate further. Similarly, the NFP has affirmed its commitment to the coalition government, emphasizing the importance of collaboration as they work together to address Fiji’s pressing issues.

This sense of solidarity is crucial as Fiji faces significant challenges that require united efforts. Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica and other cabinet members have publicly shown their support for Rabuka, underscoring a commitment to maintain strong relations within the coalition to effectively tackle national concerns.

In looking to the future, Prime Minister Rabuka is scheduled to visit New Zealand for discussions with the Prime Minister there and to participate in Fiji Day celebrations, followed by attendance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa. These engagements reflect the coalition’s commitment to a prosperous future for all Fijians, particularly the youth.

Overall, the coalition is demonstrating resilience and a proactive approach in governance, fostering a hopeful outlook for Fiji as it moves forward in addressing key national issues. The emphasis on unity and collaboration among different political factions indicates a positive path ahead for the Fijian government.
