The FIJI Water Foundation (FWF) has launched its new Classroom Grants program for 2025, offering financial support of up to FJ$5,000 to certified educators throughout Fiji. This initiative aims to boost literacy, numeracy, mental well-being, and innovative teaching practices within schools, reaching from urban areas to the most isolated islands.
Marie Smith, the Manager of the FIJI Water Foundation, underscored the importance of this program by stating, “By providing schools with targeted resources, we ensure every student has access to quality education, thereby preparing them for a brighter future in Fiji.” Since its inception in 2018, the initiative has directed over FJ$4 million towards enhancing educational resources for teachers, ultimately improving outcomes for students.
The grants support a wide range of educational projects, including the introduction of new learning tools, empowerment resources for educators, and technological advancements to enrich classroom experiences. In the previous year, approximately 250 educators benefited from the program, receiving a total of FJ$1.2 million, positively impacting more than 50,000 students nationwide.
Educators aspiring to apply for the 2025 Classroom Grants have until April 12, 2025, to submit their applications, with successful candidates expected to be notified in May.
