Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced pivotal changes to his Cabinet with the appointment of two new ministers and an assistant minister. The official swearing-in ceremony is set to take place today.
In a statement, PM Rabuka revealed that Lynda Tabuya will assume the role of Minister for Information, taking over this portfolio which he had previously managed. Rabuka expressed confidence in Tabuya’s qualifications, stating that she is well-equipped to lead the government’s public relations initiatives through the Ministry of Information.
Additionally, Tomasi Tunabuna has been promoted to Minister for Agriculture, succeeding Alitia Bainivalu, who has been acting in the position since the unfortunate passing of the late Vatimi Rayalu. PM Rabuka acknowledged Tunabuna’s effectiveness as an Assistant Minister in the Ministry.
The third appointment sees Inosi Kuridrani named as the new Assistant Minister for Agriculture, supporting Tunabuna in his responsibilities.
These changes are designed to enhance governance as the government enters its final two years in office. The Prime Minister indicated that these appointments will diversify leadership and bring fresh insights, bolstering the administration’s ability to tackle key challenges ahead.
This Cabinet reshuffle aligns with Rabuka’s ongoing strategy to strengthen public engagement and improve communication with the citizens, fostering a government that is more responsive to the needs of the population. The anticipated outcomes from these appointments are optimistic, potentially revitalizing operations within the affected ministries and better serving the community.
