Tourists in Fiji are encountering challenges with the country’s bus card system, which is essential for using public transportation. This situation was brought to light by a well-known YouTuber during his recent visit from Sydney, who has a substantial following of nearly 190,000.

In his travel vlog, the YouTuber recounted his experience attempting to ride a bus in the Samabula region but found himself unable to do so due to the lack of a necessary bus card. Consequently, he was forced to walk from his hotel to Suva. He expressed his disappointment, noting, “The buses are a mad vibe. I want to ride one but I need a card to ride one. The process to get a card is hard.”

This incident highlights a gap in the accessibility of public transport for visitors, which may impact their overall travel experience. However, it also presents an opportunity for local authorities to improve the system, potentially leading to a more seamless travel experience for future tourists.

Positive changes could arise from this situation if the government and transport officials take steps to streamline the application process for bus cards or create alternative solutions for tourists. Such improvements would not only enhance the visitors’ experience but also support local businesses that rely on tourism.
