The Fiji Bula Boys are currently in training at the Oceania Football Confederation Academy in Auckland, as they prepare for a series of friendly matches scheduled for this week. Guided by Coach Rob Sherman, the team has been actively working to enhance both their performance and strategy during the training sessions.
Coach Sherman expressed contentment with the team’s overall condition, noting that they are in “decent shape” for their upcoming matches. He highlighted that these friendly games serve a dual purpose: to assess player progress and improve team dynamics, rather than fixating on the wins or losses. “It’s a chance to play against organized teams and just to check the progress of the players,” he stated.
The Bula Boys will face Auckland United tomorrow, followed by a match against Eastern Suburbs this Sunday and another friendly against Wellington Phoenix next week. These matches offer a vital opportunity for the team to strengthen their cohesion and evaluate player preparedness ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers.
As the Bula Boys train, they are uniting local talents with overseas-based players. Team manager Kartik Reddy has highlighted the competitive nature of the selection process for the final 23-member squad, stressing that every player must earn their spot to participate in the qualifiers.
This blend of local and international skills is expected to enhance the team’s overall performance, fostering a sense of optimism about their potential success in Oceania football. As the team strives to improve and refine their abilities, both players and fans remain hopeful for a strong performance in the qualifiers, showcasing the talent and resilience of Fijian football on the global stage.
