Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad has announced that the Fijian government is working to enhance service delivery for the upcoming 2025-2026 National Budget. During a public consultation held in Nadi, Mr. Prasad shared the government’s plans to alleviate the financial burden on citizens while maintaining essential benefits provided to the population.

He emphasized the importance of investment, noting that there is significant optimism among investors about Fiji’s economic prospects. “We are on the verge of beginning groundwork for various investments, which is genuinely positive news for job growth and increased wages in the private sector,” he stated.

Mr. Prasad highlighted the success of previous budgets, noting improvements in income levels and the increasing capacity for consumption among Fijians. He pointed to the greater freedom citizens now enjoy to express their opinions on government policies, reflecting a mature democratic environment.

In addition, he mentioned ongoing initiatives such as the establishment of a fiscal review committee, which includes private sector representatives and aims to incorporate widespread expertise into government policymaking. Such collaborative approaches are intended to foster trust between the government and the population, aiming for a budget that truly reflects the needs of all Fijians.

Like previous consultation efforts, this initiative echoes a commitment to inclusivity and responsiveness in governance, inviting the public to engage actively in shaping budgetary decisions. As the government prepares to present the budget in Parliament on June 27, the ongoing dialogue between officials and citizens lays a hopeful foundation for continued economic development and improved public services in Fiji.

Overall, these developments signal a constructive shift toward a more transparent and engaged government, holding promise for a brighter economic future for the nation.
