Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Professor Biman Prasad, has reiterated the Coalition Government’s commitment to enhancing public sector efficiency and collaboration with the private sector as part of the upcoming 2025-2026 National Budget. Speaking at the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business Forum, he emphasized that the budget will center around efficient service delivery, inclusivity, and the achievement of measurable results.

“Our budget will concentrate on the delivery and efficiency of public services, and in partnership with the private sector, we’re building a resilient, inclusive, and prosperous Fiji,” Professor Prasad stated. He noted that while Fiji’s economy has enjoyed steady growth, the strategic approach will increasingly focus on responsible financial management and necessary structural reforms, rather than stimulus-led spending.

This forum presented an essential platform for the government and business entities to engage in discussions aimed at strengthening economic resilience through enhanced cooperation. Prasad highlighted the significance of listening to the private sector, stating, “The private sector holds immense wisdom… vital to shaping sound economic policy and driving nation-building efforts.”

The themes of transparency and civic involvement reflected in the consultation process align with previously outlined strategies by Prasad, where he detailed a commitment to ensuring that budget allocations are executed effectively, particularly in critical sectors such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure. This approach aims to uplift living standards and support vulnerable communities, reinforcing a pledge that no Fijian will be left behind.

With current global economic challenges, the government’s focus on collaboration with the private sector and community engagement fosters optimism for a robust economic recovery and future growth. By addressing the needs outlined by citizens and continuing to adapt fiscal policies accordingly, Fiji is poised to build a more sustainable and prosperous future for all its citizens.
