Fiji is set to receive a significant financial boost of $304.4 million in loans and grants, following the endorsement from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). According to a Cabinet statement, the funding is aimed at enhancing infrastructure through the Critical Bridges Resilience Project.
This financial package includes approximately $271.6 million in concessional loans and about $32.8 million in grant financing, enabling the Fiji Roads Authority to replace four critical bridges that have been identified for this initiative. The project’s completion is anticipated by 2031, paving the way for improved transport and connectivity within the nation.
This investment not only supports the immediate need for infrastructure improvements but also contributes to the long-term resilience and safety of Fiji’s road network. As the project progresses, it holds the potential to stimulate economic growth and enhance the quality of life for residents by ensuring better access and transportation options.
Overall, this funding marks a positive step towards rebuilding and enhancing Fiji’s infrastructure, reflecting the ongoing commitment to sustainable development and resilience in the face of future challenges.
