Fiji continues to solidify its standing as a key player in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector, with Outsource Fiji actively promoting the nation as an attractive outsourcing hub. Recent initiatives aim to broaden the country’s outsourcing capabilities beyond traditional models, incorporating knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) and information technology outsourcing (ITO).

Outsource Fiji’s participation at the Contact Centre Symposium 2025 in Hunter Valley, Australia, garnered attention from over 110 leading Australian companies. Executive Director Josefa Wivou emphasized the importance of Fiji’s culturally aligned and English-speaking workforce, making it a prime candidate for companies seeking cost-effective BPO solutions. The symposium served as an ideal platform to pitch Fiji’s strengths and showcase its progress in diversifying its outsourcing offerings.

Fiji’s outsourcing sector has been buoyed by various supportive government measures, including recent funding aimed at boosting BPO infrastructure and expanding the industry. Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica highlighted the strategic vision for developing a “BPO village” within the Kalabu Tax Free Zone, which promises enhanced digital connectivity and lifestyle amenities essential for attracting international businesses.

The commitment to growing the BPO sector aligns with broader initiatives to stimulate economic diversification and job creation, particularly for youth. Previous reports highlighted that the current workforce of approximately 8,000 individuals in the BPO sector is expected to expand significantly, aiming for 25,000 new jobs in the next five to ten years.

The overarching sentiment surrounding Fiji’s outsourcing industry remains hopeful. Continued innovation and strategic partnerships focus not just on economic growth, but also on fostering sustainable practices within the community. As Fiji positions itself as a competitive outsourcing destination, the potential for job creation, particularly among women who comprise a large portion of the workforce, signifies a promising trajectory for the nation’s economic resilience.
