Aminiasi Saratibau, a rising star in Fiji’s boxing scene, has been unexpectedly nominated for the 2024 Fiji Sports Man of the Year award, marking a remarkable milestone in his burgeoning career. At just 25 years old and only two years into his boxing journey, Saratibau has already established himself as one of the country’s elite boxers. His achievements include winning a bronze medal at the 2023 Pacific Games and competing in the Paris Olympics Qualifiers held in Thailand last year.
Reflecting on his nomination, Saratibau expressed surprise and gratitude, saying he feels blessed to be recognized early in his career. “I didn’t think they would have nominated me because I was just a beginning. I feel really blessed and grateful for knowing they believe in me,” he stated.
As part of his ongoing development, Saratibau is set to join the Fiji Amateur Boxing squad on a tour to the United States, under the guidance of head coach Cam Todd. The 2024 Fiji Sports Awards will take place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva tomorrow night, where Saratibau hopes to represent the growing talent in Fijian boxing.
