KINGS Boxing Promotions promoter Nahroon Buksh is gearing up for a highly anticipated boxing event scheduled for July 19 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, and he’s expecting a full house. Buksh, who has learned valuable lessons from previously organized events, is eager to boost the profile of boxing in Fiji with this significant return after a brief hiatus.

“Boxing needs to grow in the country, and bringing this caliber of fights will create more opportunities for upcoming boxers,” Buksh stated, indicating a commitment to fostering local talent. The lineup for this event will include ten professional bouts featuring three titles: the WBA Oceania title, the NZPBC Oriental Pacific Super Featherweight title, and the BCF heavyweight title.

Among the notable matchups, the spotlight will be on the main event between Fiji’s featherweight champion Junior Binnu Singh and Australia’s Runqi Zhou. This clash is historic, as it represents the first WBA title fight in Fiji, sparking excitement within the local boxing community. Singh, motivated by the memory of his late friend Ubayd Haider, who tragically passed away after a match against Zhou, expresses his determination to achieve victory in this personal battle.

Preparation is crucial for Buksh, who has taken extra measures to ensure safety and professionalism by enforcing drug tests for all boxers and securing medical services for the event. “We want to do things in a perfect way,” he assured, aiming for a flawless event devoid of past incidents.

Other exciting bouts will include Mikaele Ravalaca facing Junior Raka for the NZPBC super featherweight title, and James Singh going up against Semi Dauloloma for the BCF heavyweight crown. The event represents a pivotal moment for Fijian boxing, underscoring the potential for the region to become a significant hub for the sport.

The lineup and growing enthusiasm for boxing in Fiji demonstrate a promising future as the community rallies around local fighters, providing both competitive opportunities and greater recognition of talent.
