The Fiji Amateur Boxing Association and the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation have announced their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding to live broadcast the upcoming International Tri Nations Amateur Boxing tournament. This tournament is set to take place next week and will feature talented athletes from Fiji, Australia, and Samoa, offering a platform for emerging boxers to showcase their skills.

Panapasa Daunakamakama, the President of the Fiji Amateur Boxing Association, emphasized the critical nature of such tournaments in developing young boxers. He expressed gratitude for the support from FBC, noting that the association dreams of cultivating skilled boxers who can compete on the international stage. He praised the dedication and progress made by the athletes, indicating that their training has resulted in impressive performances.

FBC TV Manager Sitiveni Halofaki reiterated the corporation’s commitment to fostering minor sports within Fiji and the unique opportunity this partnership presents. He mentioned that those living abroad will also have access to the live broadcasts via FBC’s online platform, Viti+, allowing families to connect with the event even from a distance.

The tournament is scheduled for next Friday and Saturday at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva, with local viewers able to watch it live on FBC 2 while overseas audiences can access it on Viti+ for a fee of $99 FJD.

This initiative reflects the growing interest and support for amateur boxing in Fiji and aims to inspire young athletes. With continued support and exposure through live broadcasts, the future looks bright for Fijian boxing talent, paving the way for increased opportunities both locally and internationally.
