The launch was officiated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, who highlighted the plan’s four fundamental pillars: Regulatory Effectiveness, Service Delivery, Advocacy, and Financial Sustainability.

The strategic plan is designed to address the digital divide, drive innovation, and reinforce Fiji’s status as the information and communication technology (ICT) hub of the Pacific. Mr. Kamikamica emphasized that this achievement showcases TAF’s commitment to fortifying the telecommunications industry, aiming for a vision of a digitally interconnected Fiji where all citizens have fair access to technological resources and opportunities.

He stated, “The plan’s emphasis on regulatory excellence, enhanced service delivery, advocacy for community needs, and financial sustainability illustrates TAF’s alignment with the government’s vision of a digitally inclusive and empowered Fiji.” He expressed confidence in TAF’s ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders for the smooth execution of the plan.

TAF chairman, David Eyre, also spoke about the organization’s ambitious trajectory toward a digitally inclusive future. He noted, “We look forward to executing this plan and contributing to the transformative change it will bring to Fiji and the Pacific. With our stakeholders’ support, TAF will turn these aspirations into tangible impacts for the people of Fiji.”

TAF’s CEO, Prit Chand, emphasized the establishment of a clear and actionable roadmap for improving Fiji’s telecommunications landscape. He articulated that this plan not only portrays their vision for a digitally connected Fiji but also guides their decision-making in alignment with long-term goals. It aims to effectively manage resources, adopt innovation, and tackle emerging challenges, ensuring responsiveness and a forward-thinking mindset.

This strategic plan not only sets the groundwork for Fiji’s technological advancements but also nurtures a sense of community and collaboration among stakeholders, which is vital for achieving its ambitious goals.

In summary, TAF’s newly launched Five-Year Strategic Plan is a promising initiative aimed at enhancing Fiji’s telecommunications sector and ensuring that every citizen has equitable access to technology. This commitment to progress aligns seamlessly with the broader vision of a connected, inclusive Fiji.
