The Telecommunications Authority of Fiji (TAF) has launched its inaugural five-Year Strategic Plan for 2025-2029 at Tanoa Plaza in Suva, marking a significant milestone in the country’s telecommunications development. The event was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications Manoa Kamikamica, who served as the chief guest.
The Strategic Plan is centered around four key pillars: Regulatory Effectiveness, Service Delivery, Advocacy, and Financial Sustainability, along with strategic enablers focused on People and Governance, Processes, and Technology. Its overarching goal is to address the digital divide, promote innovation, and strengthen Fiji’s status as the information and communication technology (ICT) hub of the Pacific.
In his address, Mr. Kamikamica highlighted that this plan reflects TAF’s commitment to enhancing the telecommunications sector. He shared a vision of a digitally connected Fiji, ensuring that every citizen has fair access to technology and opportunities. He stated, “The plan’s emphasis on regulatory excellence, enhanced service delivery, advocacy for community needs, and financial sustainability aligns with the government’s vision of a digitally inclusive and empowered Fiji.” Kamikamica expressed confidence that TAF will collaborate well with key stakeholders for the plan’s successful implementation.
TAF Chairman David Eyre emphasized the ambitious direction the organization is taking towards a digitally inclusive future. He expressed optimism about the transformative changes this plan will bring to Fiji and the Pacific region, promising measurable benefits for the people of Fiji.
Meanwhile, TAF’s CEO, Prit Chand, noted that the plan offers a clear pathway for transforming the telecommunications landscape in Fiji. He asserted that the roadmap will guide the authority in making informed decisions that align with long-term goals, facilitating effective resource management, fostering innovation, and responding to new challenges.
