A taskforce has been deployed to Kadavu and Vanua Levu to address drug-related issues, according to Minister for Policing Iowane Naivalurua, who made the announcement in Parliament on Friday. This action aligns with recent concerns expressed by the current Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu, about the potential increase in drug issues due to upcoming tourism developments in the northern region. Tudravu has previously identified specific areas such as Savusavu and the Natewa peninsula as having notable drug activity and highlighted the importance of preparedness in combating this looming threat.
