Pio Tikoduadua, the Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, officially launched Fiji’s National Security and Defense Review (NSDR) at the Grand Pacific Hotel today. In his address, Tikoduadua emphasized the need for significant reforms within Fiji’s security institutions, highlighting the importance of rebuilding trust among the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, the Fiji Police Force, civil society, and the private sector.
The NSDR report identifies accountability, transparency, and civilian oversight as fundamental principles. It promotes a people-centered approach to security, focusing on justice, human rights, and social unity. The Minister urged a comprehensive strategy that involves the entire government and society, advocating for the integration of human rights, gender equality, and social inclusion into national security efforts.
