The Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Pio Tikoduadua, unveiled Fiji’s National Security and Defense Review (NSDR) today at the Grand Pacific Hotel. He highlighted the necessity for reform within Fiji’s security institutions and emphasized the critical role of rebuilding trust among the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, the Fiji Police Force, civil society, and the private sector.
The NSDR report identifies accountability, transparency, and civilian oversight as fundamental principles. It advocates for a people-centered security strategy that prioritizes justice, human rights, and social cohesion. The Minister urged for a comprehensive approach that incorporates the entire government and society, focusing on integrating human rights, gender equity, and social inclusion into the national security framework.
