Fiji’s capacity to draw significant investments, exemplified by the Hilton Garden Inn project, showcases the confidence investors have in the nation’s economy, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Prof Biman Prasad. At the topping ceremony for the $75 million Phase 1 of the Hilton Garden Inn (HGI) project in Suva this week, Prof Prasad noted that this landmark project not only marks a new chapter for the Carpenters Group but will also transform Suva’s tourism sector permanently.

The Suva HGI project, developed by the Carpenters Group in collaboration with the international hotel brand Hilton, is set to feature 178 rooms along with facilities such as a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, car park, and backup power and water supply upon the completion of Phase 1 in August next year.

Prof Prasad emphasized that the government’s dedication to prudent fiscal policies, economic reforms, and maintaining macroeconomic stability has positioned Fiji as a competitive and attractive destination for investment. He stated that investor confidence is vital for driving sustainable development and assured that the government will continue to promote policies that enhance business growth, bolster investor trust, and inspire innovation.

He encouraged other businesses to take cues from the Carpenters Group and capitalize on the investment opportunities available in Fiji’s expanding economy.

Kunaseelan Subaratna, director of retail marketing at Carpenters Fiji Pte Limited, expressed pride in the company’s evolution and recognition among entities contributing to the development of Fiji’s commercial landscape. He envisioned the HGI Hotel’s topping-off ceremony attracting customers and establishing a new standard within the country and beyond.

Subaratna highlighted that the brand is well-suited to cater to the surge in business travel, particularly as Suva positions itself as a hub for diplomatic activities in the Pacific.
