Prince Charles Park is set to welcome the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator of Nadi Town Council, confirmed that the final preparations for the park are in progress.
Mr. Raiwalui mentioned that this concert is expected to introduce a new standard for events in Nadi. “This show will bring a different taste, the sound of the Pacific carrying the spirit of Fiji,” he stated. He added that while the concert organizers will cover all costs for the Prince Charles Park venue, the council will manage the parking arrangements, likely utilizing Koroivolu Park for additional space.
The concert marks Mr. Veikoso’s return home after four decades of promoting Pacific music globally, and he emphasized that this event is more than just a performance. “It’s a celebration of our roots, our culture, and the music that connects us all,” he explained. He expressed his honor in returning home to share his musical journey alongside notable artists including J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi.
Furthermore, Mr. Veikoso highlighted the concert as a celebration of music’s ability to unite and inspire communities. “This event is a tribute to our shared heritage, and I can’t wait to experience this unforgettable night with all of you,” he added.
A representative from Tourism Fiji expressed enthusiasm about the concert, noting it not only celebrates Mr. Veikoso’s talent but also highlights Fiji’s vibrant music scene. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to boost our local economy, grow a sense of community, and showcase Fiji’s unique offerings to international visitors,” the spokesperson stated.
Ticket prices range from $79 to $999 for VIP passes. Local artist Big Wilz expressed his eagerness to attend, emphasizing the value of supporting local talent. “I will pay because I will support Pojie and would like to give him credit for being our flag bearer in the world of music. It’s going to be epic. Be there if you can just don’t feel bad if you can’t. See you in Nadi,” he remarked.
The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
