Fiji’s beach soccer team secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Papua New Guinea, with striker France Catarogo netting three goals in the match held in Honiara. This win allowed Fiji to clinch third place in the OFC Beach Soccer Men’s Nations Cup.
In their previous encounter, Papua New Guinea had triumphed 8-2 over Fiji in a thrilling tournament opener. However, in that match, Fiji was missing key players, including captain Tevita Waranaivalu and starter Madhwan Gounder, who arrived late.
Fiji opened the scoring in the 8th minute, thanks to Northland Tailevu’s Steven Dean. Catarogo then extended the team’s lead just eight minutes later. He went on to secure his hat-trick with goals in the 22nd and 34th minutes, solidifying Fiji’s dominant performance.
