The Suva Netball Association President, Alumeci Sachs, has lauded the efforts of the Grasshoppers, Lomaiviti, and Tagimoucia netball clubs for their significant role in shaping the players who will represent Fiji at the 2025 Netball Youth World Cup in Gibraltar. The Baby Pearls team includes six players—Akisi Bolakoro, Anatolia Nuku, Susana Rasaubale, Mereoni Taqiri, Lydia Tavesivesi, and Adi Varanisese Vula—selected from these clubs, underscoring the strong foundation they received at the club level.
Sachs emphasized the clubs’ dedication to nurturing the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of the players, which has been pivotal in their national team selection. Additionally, the support and encouragement from the players’ families have been recognized as crucial to their development and success in reaching an international stage.
The upcoming Netball Youth World Cup, scheduled from September 19-28, offers an inspiring opportunity for these players not only to represent their country but also to act as role models for future generations of Fijian netball players. The selection of the Baby Pearls is a testament to the vibrant netball community in Fiji and the promising future the sport holds.
Blending this current recognition with previous reports, it’s evident that the Baby Pearls’ journey has been filled with dedication and community support. Not only have they undergone rigorous training and participated in international tournaments, but they have also engaged actively in community and grassroots netball initiatives, aligning with their broader goal of elevating the sport’s profile in Fiji.
This foundational effort reflects a strong vision not only for the Baby Pearls’ success in Gibraltar but also in inspiring a sustainable future for netball in Fiji. The team is positioned to make a significant impression on the international stage, instilling pride within their communities and setting a hopeful trajectory for netball’s growth in the country.
