Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced that a $160 million investment in new flight simulators illustrates Fiji Airways’ confidence in the future. During the inauguration of the two advanced flight simulators, Rabuka emphasized that this initiative underscores a larger commitment to establishing Fiji as a key aviation training hub in the Asia-Pacific region.

He highlighted that the new facility will draw trainees and pilots not just from Fiji but from various locations worldwide, further positioning Fiji as a center of excellence in aviation training. Currently, Fiji Airways is responsible for bringing in approximately 65-70 percent of all visitors to Fiji, with a global marketing budget that surpasses any other organization promoting tourism to the island.

Rabuka noted that the enhanced training capabilities at the Aviation Academy will help maintain the highest standards of safety and service, which are essential for improving the travel experience for visitors. He also pointed out that these investments align with the government’s wider vision for sustainable development.

Additionally, Rabuka commended Fiji Airways not only for its leadership in the aviation sector but also for being a trailblazer in environmental conservation. “This facility will serve as a catalyst for economic growth, benefiting local businesses and contributing to the overall prosperity of our nation,” he stated.

He reaffirmed that Fiji continues to be a prime destination for both domestic and foreign investment. The significant investments made by Fiji Airways in high-tech infrastructure highlight the country’s robust investment climate, especially within the aviation sector.
