The Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF) has launched a new corporate plan aimed at guiding its operations over the next five years. This announcement was made by CAAF Chief Executive Officer Theresa Levestam during the agency’s 45th anniversary celebration, which was attended by Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka.

Levestam emphasized CAAF’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Fiji’s air transport system, stating, “We believe in our purpose, and that is to safeguard the well-being and prosperity of Fijians.” The new corporate plan will be the foundation for their operations, featuring revised goals and operational values.

Additionally, CAAF is set to implement a second edition of the Fiji State Safety Program, which is expected to support the National Aviation Safety Plan, due for release in early 2025. Levestam assured that these initiatives highlight CAAF’s dedication to upholding the highest safety standards.

A new user-friendly website is also on the way, which aims to streamline processes and enhance stakeholder engagement by providing easier access to essential information and services through automation.

Reflecting on CAAF’s achievements over the past 45 years, Levestam noted that the organization has been a pioneer in aviation innovation, from integrating GPS for aircraft tracking to advanced airspace surveillance. She highlighted that their performance in aviation oversight exceeds the global average, and they have taken on leadership roles in various international aviation committees.

Minister Gavoka reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the aviation sector, announcing a review of aviation laws planned for the following year. He also noted the significant rebranding of CAAF that was unveiled during the event.

This new corporate plan signals a proactive approach to ensuring the future of aviation safety in Fiji, promising ongoing improvements and innovations that will benefit both the industry and the public.

In summary, CAAF is positioning itself as a forward-thinking organization dedicated to the continuous improvement of air safety and innovation, which can positively impact the aviation sector in Fiji long into the future.
