The Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF) has unveiled its new corporate plan aimed at guiding its activities over the next five years. This announcement was made by CAAF’s Chief Executive Officer, Theresa Levestam, during the agency’s 45th anniversary celebration, which was attended by the Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka.
Levestam emphasized CAAF’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Fiji’s air transport system, explaining that the new corporate plan will establish a refreshed vision, mission, purpose, motto, and values for the organization. She described the plan as a vital tool that will act as a compass over the upcoming years.
In addition to the corporate plan, CAAF is set to launch its second edition of the Fiji State Safety Program, which will serve as a precursor to the National Aviation Safety Plan due to be published in early 2025. Levestam reassured stakeholders of CAAF’s dedication to maintaining high safety standards in the aviation sector.
The upcoming launch of a revamped, user-friendly website was also announced. This new site will enhance stakeholder access to crucial information and services through automation of various processes.
Reflecting on CAAF’s legacy, Levestam acknowledged the contributions of past leaders who have helped the organization maintain superior aviation standards regionally and globally. She highlighted CAAF’s innovative achievements, such as integrating the Global Positioning System for aircraft tracking and leading initiatives in advanced airspace surveillance.
Minister Gavoka, officiating the event, expressed the government’s commitment to fostering a thriving aviation sector in Fiji. He mentioned that a review of aviation laws is planned for the following year, which further underscores the collaborative effort towards enhancing aviation safety and efficiency in the country.
