Iferemi Turuva, the director of the Suva Zone One Athletic competition, praised the recently concluded event at the HFC Bank Stadium as a resounding success. Although some minor issues arose over the two-day meet, Turuva expressed confidence that the competition ran smoothly overall.
He extended his gratitude to the participating schools and athletes for their involvement, wishing them success as they prepare for the upcoming Fiji Finals next month, which will also be hosted at the HFC Bank Stadium and broadcast live on FBC Sports. Turuva emphasized the value of showcasing athletic abilities, stating, “Students enjoyed themselves, and it’s important for them to come out and display their skills in sports.”
In line with the sentiments expressed by other officials at similar events, such as the Suva Zone Two athletics competition, the role of community support in nurturing young talent was highlighted. Events like these not only promote athleticism but also foster a culture of perseverance, teamwork, and camaraderie among students from various schools.
The spirit of competition continues to foster growth in athletics within Fiji, laying a positive foundation for future events such as the National Championship Coca-Cola Games set for late April. This collective effort among students, schools, and volunteers contributes to a vibrant athletic culture, inspiring the next generation to strive for excellence.
