Tevita Ikanivere, Frank Lomani, and Selestino Ravutaumada are joining a global trend in sports where athletes can monetize their images through officially licensed merchandise. The Fijian Drua has launched a line of limited-edition figurines and collectibles in collaboration with Mogul Visual Solutions, marking the first time players from Fiji will earn royalties from products that replicate their likeness.
This initiative reflects practices already popular in the United States and Europe, where athletes have long benefited from licensing deals and endorsements. The new line includes figurines, bobbleheads, and key tags, and grants players a royalty on each sale, resembling the name, image, and likeness (NIL) arrangements familiar to US athletes.
Mogul Director Ritesh Chauhan emphasized that this effort aims to enhance fan engagement while ensuring the players receive fair compensation for their contributions to the sport. “These are limited edition, so fans can treasure them, and the players receive royalties from every sale. It’s a new way to reward our pioneers both on and off the field,” he said.
Captain Tevita Ikanivere expressed his gratitude for being featured, stating, “Never in my wildest dreams did I think toys would be made in my likeness in Fiji. It’s truly an honour and a wonderful gift for fans, especially children.” Co-captain Frank Lomani noted the significance of this development for Fijian sports, pointing out that such merchandise is common overseas and its introduction in Fiji is a monumental leap forward.
Fans can find these unique collectibles available at Prouds Stores in Suva and Nadi, with prices set at $34 for bobbleheads and $19.50 for key tags, blending fan culture with athlete empowerment.
This move not only empowers the players but also enriches the local sports culture, offering fans a tangible connection to their heroes. It stands as a promising step towards expanding the commercial landscape of sports in Fiji, encouraging further engagement and support for local athletes.
