Adult and Teen Challenge (Fiji) is making ambitious plans to establish a comprehensive rehabilitation center focused on families, according to Executive Director Reverend Hemraj Mangal. In a recent discussion, Mangal shared that the organization aims to construct four dormitories, which would enable them to accommodate up to 80 individuals in need of support.
Currently, the facility can only house two students, but it has the capacity to take in 12 more. Mangal detailed the phased approach to the expansion, starting with a new men’s center designed specifically for males over 18 years of age, with each dormitory intended to house 20 residents.
Additionally, plans are in place to develop a women’s and children’s center in the same manner. Mangal expressed optimism about the future expansion, dependent on funding availability, highlighting the pressing need for such services in the community. “There are many individuals who are struggling with life-controlling issues stemming from drug and substance abuse.” he emphasized.
Since 2014, staff at the organization have participated in multiple training programs to enhance their skills and effectiveness. Adult and Teen Challenge (Fiji) operates under the global umbrella of Global Teen Challenge, which includes over 1,400 centers across 140 countries. This affiliation provides critical resources, educational materials, and training support for local initiatives.
This endeavor represents a hopeful step forward in addressing addiction and improving well-being in Fiji, showing a strong commitment to transforming lives and supporting families in need. The projected expansion underscores the organization’s dedication to meeting the growing demand for rehabilitation services, promoting healing and recovery in the community.
Overall, the establishment of this rehabilitation center could have a profound impact, offering hope and support for those affected by substance abuse struggles.
