Fiji may soon implement new nanotechnology-based fertilizers from China if current trials yield positive results, according to Sugar Industry Minister Charan Jeath Singh. The minister recently held discussions with a delegation from Shenzhen King Quenson Industry Company Limited at the Sugar Research Institute of Fiji (SRIF) in Lautoka to assess the potential fertilizers that could enhance sugar and agricultural productivity in the country.
“The new fertilizers will undergo thorough testing by the SRIF to evaluate their effectiveness,” Mr. Singh stated. “This represents a serious commitment to improving the industry’s output and sustainability.”
Shenzhen King Quenson Industry Company Limited is recognized as a prominent agrochemical manufacturer in China. SRIF CEO Vinesh Kumar expressed enthusiasm for collaboration, emphasizing, “This innovative approach, grounded in nanomaterials and nanotechnology, provides a comprehensive solution for our agricultural requirements.”
Trials on the fertilizers are currently taking place in a low-production field in Rakiraki. “In the upcoming months, we will collect enough data to validate the quality and effectiveness of the fertilizers proposed by Shenzhen King Quenson Industry,” Mr. Kumar added.
