The Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) is about to unveil its participation in a groundbreaking $250 million tourism project, which is projected to create approximately 500 jobs and bring in $26 million to the country’s economy. This major initiative, regarded as a “significant milestone for Fiji,” includes key partners such as BSP Bank and Australian-based Realcorp, a firm led by Bob Lowres, who is well-known for prior developments like Naisoso Island.

Ahead of the announcement, Realcorp has reported securing $181 million in pre-sales, indicating strong market confidence and optimism that the entire project will be sold out by its anticipated completion date in late 2026.

FNPF has notably expanded its interests in the tourism sector over recent years, becoming the owner of various prominent hotels and acquiring a 30% stake in Fiji Airways during the pandemic, a move that has benefited its assets significantly as tourism activities rebound. According to its 2024 annual report, increased travel has enhanced occupancy rates and revenues across FNPF’s hotel portfolio, which includes high-profile properties like the InterContinental Fiji Resort & Spa and the Fiji Marriott Resort at Momi Bay.

With assets totaling over $10 billion, FNPF stands as one of Fiji’s largest property owners. Its efforts are not only aimed at obtaining financial returns but also at supporting crucial job creation and economic growth within the tourism industry. The optimistic projections for this new project are in line with government initiatives designed to promote investment, ensuring that Fiji remains a compelling destination for both local and international investors.
