Fiji’s 17-Year-Old Taekwondo Star Makes Olympic History

Lolohea Naitasi, representing Team Fiji, is the youngest Taekwondo athlete competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics. At just 17 years old, she expressed her gratitude for the encouragement she received from her team and other Oceania teams during her Olympic debut at the Grande Palais in Paris.

Naitasi noted that this was the best performance of her career so far, highlighting that she followed the advice of her coach, Master Ra, to savor each moment of her experience at her first Olympics. Unfortunately, she was defeated by world number five Julyana Alsadeq from Jordan.

Making history as one of the first Fijians to qualify for Taekwondo at the Olympics, Naitasi is now looking forward to the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
