Fijians living in Australia have participated in the annual conference of the Methodist Church this week, marking a significant milestone as it is the first time they have done so. Approximately 40 individuals, including seasonal workers with newly secured contracts that extend their stay in Australia for a few more years, attended the event.
Reverend Moape Siginisucuvinaka, the team leader from Griffith, Australia, highlighted the active involvement of these workers in local Methodist church branches, which has been crucial for the community. He expressed joy at their engagement, stating, “Many of them have joined us and we are glad that they have been very active with church activities. We have come for this conference to encourage them to continue serving God faithfully.”
Seasonal worker and youth representative Seremaia Raibevu shared the sentiment, expressing gratitude for being part of the group. He remarked on the challenges of living in Australia, especially coming from the close-knit environment of their village, emphasizing that faith in God is their source of strength.
